MARIKO is a development and transfer company with an interface function for the maritime economy and science. MARIKO develops and coordinates u. a. Research, development and innovation projects and carries out development tasks in the shipping sector. The focus is on GreenShipping topics.
The purpose of MARIKO GmbH is to promote research, education and employment in the maritime sector. The target group of the support services are primarily the maritime companies in the north-west of Lower Saxony. The MARIKO location is in Leer, spatially connected to the Emden / Leer University of Applied Sciences, Department of Seafaring and Maritime Sciences, with which a substantive cooperation is maintained.
MARIKO GmbH operates at the interface between maritime economy, science and politics. Its task is to bundle and network the maritime forces in the region with the aim of strengthening growth, competitiveness, employment and innovation in the maritime sector. In its strategic role, MARIKO GmbH contributes to the further development and strengthened external image of the maritime region in the north-west. This includes an increasing profile as a competence region for "Green Shipping" technologies.
The sectoral focus areas of MARIKO GmbH are the shipping industry, the port industry, green shipping technologies, the maritime offshore wind industry and maritime education and training. Cross-sectional tasks in these areas are technology and innovation transfer, project development and coordination, maritime location marketing, information services and representing the interests of the regional maritime economy.
