Department of Maritime and Maritime Sciences in Leer

The maritime sciences are the focus of our university location in Leer. The modern and renowned facility trains executives for commercial shipping and the maritime industry.

Ship guidance

In the nautical and maritime studies course, complex ship handling situations are trained with the students on a modern ship handling simulator, which can then be reproduced on a three-dimensional level in the “Center for Modeling & Simulation”. In the “Maritime Technical Center”, ultra-modern systems such as a wind tunnel, a large maneuvering basin and an acoustics laboratory will be available for innovative research and teaching.

Maritime technology and shipping management

The Maritime Technology and Shipping Management degree program combines technical, scientific and nautical knowledge with economic and legal know-how. Ship and environmental technology, shipping company management and logistics as well as safety and quality management are offered as specializations.

Offshore and sustainable shipping

The international master’s degree in Maritime Operations, which is located in Leer and Haugesund, Norway, focuses on the topics of offshore and sustainable shipping. Teaching at the Department of Seafaring and Maritime Sciences is also characterized by permanent contact with the maritime industry at home and abroad, for example through study projects.
